Board Definitions

RobiCon.org system defines standard board size dimensions and mounting hole placement.
The Board Definitions come in two flavors, Compatible and Compliant. Copatible boards have a flexible dimensioning formula for part numbers but do not define mounting holes. Compliant boards are defined using a pre-developed table and define mounting holes that allow for mechanical compatibility between vendors.
Board sizes range from 1cm to 50cm along any edge.

RobiCon.org Compatible Boards
Board Sizes are defined in centimeters.
Board size codes for "RobiCon.org Compatible" size boards have four digits indicating dimensions. The first two digits specify the width of the board and the second to digits specify the length of the board. Optionally, a board part number can specify the mounting holes present on the board. Holes are called out as A, B, C and D. Hole A is always at the top-left of the board. Remaining holes are called out in a counter-clockwise pattern with hole B at lower-left, hole C at lower-right and hole D at upper-right. Boards with all four mounting holes present should not call out the hole placement (i.e. -ABCD should never be called out). Boards with no mounting holes are not considered RobiCon.org compatible and are not supported in the Compliance Designator Scheme.
Format: BRD-<WIDTH:01-99><LENGTH:01-99>[-<HOLES>]
- HOLES parameter only required when less than four holes on board.
- HOLES specifies which holes are present on board. Example: -AB, -AC, -BCD
- Boards with no mounting holes are not allowed within the scope of this specification.

RobiCon.org Compliant Boards
A second board type are "RobiCon.org Compliant". This is a non-arbitrary pre-sized
board based on the following tables. RobiCon.org compliant boards come in three types
bound by aspect ratios: (A)1:1, (B)1:1.5, (C)1:2, (D)1:3, (E)1:4, (F)1:1.33.
In addition the following non-rectangular sizes are currently under development. (H)Hexagonal, (O)Octagonal,(R)Round. Tables and drawing will be posted shortly.
